How to scan a document to PDF on iPhone

ScanFile guide ยท 5 steps

The fastest route from paper to PDF is to capture the whole page cleanly, confirm the edges, review the result, and export only when it is readable.

1. Place the document on a clear background

Use an evenly lit surface with contrast around the page. Flatten folds and keep shadows, fingers, and nearby objects away from the paper edges.

2. Open ScanFile and frame the entire sheet

Hold the iPhone parallel to the page when possible. Wait for the edge outline to settle and make sure every corner is visible before capture.

3. Correct the crop

Review the detected corners. Move any corner that cuts into text or includes too much background. Perspective correction will straighten the angled page into a rectangular document.

Readability beats dramaA high-contrast filter is not automatically better. Choose the version that preserves small print, handwriting, stamps, and light pencil marks.

4. Review and name the document

Zoom in on important details, rotate the page if needed, and give the scan a title you will recognize later. Add more pages before export when the document is a packet.

5. Export as PDF

Choose PDF and share through Files, Mail, AirDrop, Messages, or another destination available on your device. Check that you are sending the final page order.

What if the page is already a photo?

Import the image instead of photographing it again. You can bring it into ScanFile, review the page, combine it with other pages, and export the document from there.

Make the next page a PDF.
