How to scan notes and homework on iPhone

ScanFile guide · School & study

A readable school scan preserves light pencil, page order, diagrams, teacher marks, and the name at the top—not only the darkest printed text.

1. Flatten every page

Use a desk or floor with enough contrast around the sheet. Smooth curled notebook pages and keep hands away from the edges during capture.

2. Use soft, even lighting

Hard shadows and glare can erase pencil strokes or obscure colored annotations. Move near a window or use room light from more than one direction.

3. Preserve diagrams and handwriting

Keep the original or color filter when color carries meaning. Try grayscale for dark pen on plain paper, but inspect light pencil before accepting the result.

4. Keep the assignment in order

Capture every page in one document, then drag the thumbnails into sequence. Rotate sideways worksheets and remove blank or duplicate pages.

Check the first and last pageBefore export, make sure the student's name, assignment title, page numbers, and final answer page are all present.

5. Export one PDF

Use a clear title, export the current page order as PDF, and send it through the submission channel the teacher or school requests.

Keep the whole assignment together.

Scan notes, homework, and handouts into one organized file.
